This is great news for people who worry about social issues in India. The parliament has passed a bill protecting children from sexual abuse. (Full story found here)
The recently launched television programme "Satyamev Jayate" has been focusing on child sex abuse and has interviewed victims and spread awareness. Towards the end of the episode and after the episode, the "Satyamev Jayate" team urged people to write in, in order to show our support for a law protecting children from sex abuse. And the impact was seen on May 22, 2012, when the parliament passed the bill.
An article on the world wide web, said: The bright side the bill will allow special courts for speedy trial of cases and harsh punishment which may include life term for the offenders. This is great news for people who feel "Bill is of no use until the courts function quicker", because usually, cases do not get resolved as quickly as expected.
There are two things required for a reform to happen - a strong law, and a change in attitude. And both these are instilled by "Satyamev Jayate". When film stars create such movements to support a cause, it certainly creates a change. Let's hope that this good work continues and gives fruits constantly.
